Image Library, Thumbnail View and Filtering
Hi,
I'm trying to find a visually appealing solution to display our internal image assets.
The new document library has a nice new thumbnail view and also a full image viewer, unfortunately I'm not able to filter anything in the thumbnail view. Managed Metadata also doesn't seem work in the new document library UI.
Forcing classic view on this library, I'm able to show thumbnails as wells as managed metadata filtering and classic column filtering, but the classic UI lacks a proper full image viewer.
Am I missing something? Can we expect metadata filtering in the new document library UI by Ignite? If not, do you have any other solutions to display image assets in SharePoint?
- Filtering sorting and grouping in Thumbnail view should be a supported scenario. There is unfortunately a bug that causes the functionality to be hidden, but expect the fix soon...

1. Asset Library instead of document library
2 Content Search Web Part with customized display template
3. Custom search results page with appropriate refiners enabled - John_Sanders

Hi Ivan,
I had a similar scenario where we want to filter on images/thumbnails.
At the moment it's not possible to change to page to add some filters etc or webparts.
I've created an out-of-the-box solution with different views. This views are linked in the menu.
On each view I added the group by functionality. This way you could have a simple filter.
Best regards
