Icon of Document Sets changed to default folder icon - Support claims it is "by design"

MSchmittnaegel IBG-ZPU Yes, changing the color of the folder feature affected the document set icons for all the tenants where this feature is released.

I have seen many customers reporting this issue and I think Microsoft is aware of this issue. Hope they hear us and make the changes accordingly so that we can get the document set icon back as it was previously.

I have added a new feedback on the SharePoint feedback portal requesting Microsoft to bring back the old document set icon. Can you please vote on the feedback/idea so that it will reach to Microsoft team and they will look into it? Thanks!
