How can I edit the 'Welcome to the Document Center' Home Page screen?

Does anyone know if it's possible to edit the Home Screen on Sharepoint after a document has been uploaded.? We've moved some old files into an archive folder but these are still showing in the Newest Documents window. We've renamed the file to warn officers not to use but is there any way of removing or hiding this in the window?
