Filtering Entire Library for Metadata

Hi all!

I've been working to set up my Sharepoint site as a photo library. To that end I've:

  1. Migrated about 400GB of photos.
  2. Created managed metadata tags.
  3. Set up the filter system to pull those tags
  4. Started tagging

BUT whenever I try to filter, the filter doesn't seem to search subdirectories. I obviously have a lot of images ~56k (well over the 5,000 display limit).

Does anyone have suggestions for making the filter system work? I was trying to create a preexisting view filter that'd drop the display amount below 5k, but Sharepoint seems insistent that even that cannot work if I have 56k files.

have you added indexes to your library that use the MM fields and other fields?

    Elliott,

There is a similar post on TechNet about exceeding the LVT when using Managed Metadata. See https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/68f57165-351f-474f-b58a-240ae0d404d9/listview-threshold-with-managed-metadata?forum=sharepointgeneral
It includes a response from a Microsoft person. There is no simple solution for your problem. Switching from MM to regular site columns is not trivial.
