Error with SharePoint Migration Tool

Hey guys,

I wondered if someone could help. I am currently getting an issue on all scans/migrations I do with the online 365 migration tool. I am trying to migrate file shares to new sites. I am getting the same error for a lot of files and folders.

Scan File Failure:Could not retrieve file's metadata0x01110009

I have trawled through the internet and tried various ways of resolving, none of which have worked. I have a support ticket open with MS and currently they have been unable to help also.

Thanks

Hi, one of my customers had a similar case there. the latency was the main cause of this problem. If there is any caching of files between the file server and the VM running SPMT, this can also cause problems. I've only had this experience with Azure-based storage, but I think the same issue can occur with a SAN with caching or high latency (or both).

Hi, thanks for this. I have ran a ping and a tracert from both servers and latency isn't an issue, results are coming back instantly at <1ms. I will check caching of files!

      Thanks again

Sorry if the text looks weird. I don't speak English and I'm using an online translator...
Have you found a solution yet?

Right now I'm experiencing the same problem.

Using SPMT, to try to get a good amount of data from a Sharepoint 2013 site to Sharepoint Online.

Although there are indications of it being network issues, just as you manage to say no.

I found this on the Internet:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/376716/spmt-error-failed-to-read-the-file-could-not-retri

As I am new to Sharepoint Online, which is all I knew, imagine in 2013...

I hope this helps you if you still need it. I haven't done it in my environment yet but I hope to find a more peaceful way, given that who works with the files is a specific team of a company system.

    Big Hug
