Right now I'm experiencing the same problem.
Using SPMT, to try to get a good amount of data from a Sharepoint 2013 site to Sharepoint Online.
Although there are indications of it being network issues, just as you manage to say no.

As I am new to Sharepoint Online, which is all I knew, imagine in 2013...
I hope this helps you if you still need it. I haven't done it in my environment yet but I hope to find a more peaceful way, given that who works with the files is a specific team of a company system.
