Drag and drop to change metadata not working

Not too long ago (within the last few months) we were able to change metadata in a modern document library by using a grouped by view and dragging documents to a different group (for example, from In Progress to Completed).  However this does not seem to work any more.  I have tried testing in a MS Demo tenant as well as a couple of other tenants, however, I do have one tenant where this function still works.  I can't find any reference to removing the functionality on any of the usual sites.  Is this feature no longer a feature? Thanks.
