Custom user properties

Hi,

What is the best way to work with user profile properties ?

To continue with the classic method that is "user profile properties" in SharePoint, or Graph API extensions for user profiles?

My goal is to implement gamification for different users in different departments. However, by using classic user profile properties, all the properties I create will be distributed for all users, I don't know if that should be the correct way forward, or if I should use Graph API extensions. Any thoughts?
