Consequences locking personal mysite in SharePoint 2016

Hi everybody,

Is there someone out there who has experience with locking (read-only or no access) personal mysites in SharePoint 2016? We're trying to let our end users transfer their data from their SharePoint 2016 mysites to OneDrive in the cloud. When an end user has transferred his/her data, we want to lock their mysite. The team sites within the same farm will still be used. Are there any consequences for the end user if we lock his/her mysite? I'm testing this right now in our test environment with my account. So far so good but maybe I'm missing something. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences and thoughts.
