Choice column - have any limits changed
We have a document library we've been using for quite a while now that has, among others, a choice column. In the past we've been able to select as many options as we need from this column without hitting any limits, but within the last two weeks we've started receiving an error that the column cannot have more than 255 characters. Has something changed recently?
We have records saved in this document library that have far more options selected for this column than what we are trying to select for these latest records, and we were able to save these without error.

Looks like its impacting only the document library and not the list.
also it is working fine in the classic view and not in the modern viewI've checked the settings and there are no limits set on the column. We have entries in the list that have well over the 255 character limit, but can no longer edit them without running into this error.
We tried opening a support call with Microsoft but were told that a choice column is a single line of text in the background and therefore has the same limits. They could not explain how we were previously able to save more than 255 characters.
RebeccaD_HW_1 I just tested this in one of my lists and I'm able to store a lot more than 255 characters across multiple choices, and even a single choice being more than 255 characters. I wonder if someones gone in and limited the Choice column to 255 characters at some point.
