    kkbomb​ Thanks! But this wasn't the issue I was having - my settings were already set to Require Check Out to No. Yet my library still was checking files out when I did not want them to, nor were they doing it previously.

     

    After MUCH testing I found the issue which appears to be a very random bug!  One column have "Enforce Unique values" set to Yes.  When I switched this to No, the file checking out problem disappeared.
