Add new field to SharePoint new item list entry

Hello,

I am looking to see if there is a way to add an existing field to a new item.

I have a list in SharePoint where when creating New Items, it doesn't allow the user to enter a Status. But when they edit, they are able to see this field.

Is it possible to make it to where this field is on both New and Edit items?

Here are a couple of screenshots. On the Edit Item screenshot, Status is a selectable item. It is not on the New Item screenshot.
