Enterprise Custom Fields Project For the Web & How to report off custom fields
What are the options for having a custom enterprise field on the project task level? I would like each project task to have a field called "Charge Code".
When you add a custom field it says that the field is not available for reporting. Does this mean it is not visible in any way, or is there a way the custom field can be surfaced in PowerBI?
Hello psawyer ,
Unfortunately this is a limitation in Project for the web, task level custom fields you add to a project are only local to that project and the fields are not available for reporting etc.

psawyer This is a hack, but we have a scenario where a user needs to capture Planned, Actual and Remaining cost from each task in Project for the Web. We stored custom task level values in the Checklist items, as shown below then parsed the data out in Power BI (actually Power Query). This is less an ideal, but it does work. Hopefully Microsoft will include this basic functionality in the future.
- LaurieHeer_D365TeamsBrass ContributorI'm very interested in the answer to your question.
From my testing, custom tasks fields created in the Power App are not available in P4W and the custom fields in P4W are not available in the Power App. I've heard of others using a flow to move the data in a custom P4W task field to a custom Power App field, but this is not an ideal solution. I'm sincerely hoping that there is a better solution. Hello psawyer ,
