Folders missing when attaching "from team files"

Hi together,

I have a user who is trying to add an attachment to a Planner task. He clicks on From team files and wants to choose a file from the following dialog. However, some folders are missing in the dialog.

In total, there are 241 folders in the Team, but the Teams dialog only shows 200 to choose from. When the user accesses the files in the team (Files tab) he can see all 241 folders.

This behaviour is the same in the Desktop app, web app and also Planner web app.

What is strange is that another user can select all folders and has no limitations.

Has anyone had this problem before? Are there any known limitations to the amount of folders showing, like e.g. 200?

Thanks for your help.

  • Hi RobSoto,

thanks for your reply. This is indeed strange and gave me quite a headache. Fortunately, I found the solution today when I reproduced all of the user's steps. In the end I think it's a bug in Microsoft's Planner app:

The user has opened the task via the Planner app in Teams and My Tasks and tried to attach an attachment here. But somehow he can only see a limited amount of folders.

However, when accessing the task from within Planner (web or directly in the team), he is able to choose any existing folder or file without limitation.

So, there seems to be a bug within Planner. Is there a way I can report this to Microsoft?

    Hi MichaelMM

If you're an admin in your M365 tenant, you can open a new case from admin.microsoft.com.

First, you can search for answers in the search box there. Since you're likely not going to find a case like yours, there will be a "Contact Support" button that appears for you to open a case.

If you're not an admin in your M365 tenant, reach out to your IT team with the details and they should be able to open a case.

    Hi MichaelMM

That is a strange symptom, especially because it happens locally and on the web. I've not personally experienced this symptom. Are the same folders missing every time or does that change when you try over and over? If the folders that don't appear are consistent, it could be a permissions issue, however unlikely. You could check the permissions on identified folders as you replicate the issue.

But if the missing folders are different every time, it sounds like a bug and Microsoft help may be needed.

I wasn't able to find any documented limitations that would cause this scenario.
