outlook contacts continuously restore themselves

I decided to clean out my contacts in outlook, so I exported them all out to a .csv file and then I deleted all 1,200 of them (100 at a time, because apparently microsoft feels that any higher amount...

    Your post made me laugh. (I laughed at your creative writing and not your situation.) 

    If you are in New Outlook, can you look in the Deleted Contact folder and empty it? I tested both the MS 365 paid subscription and Outlook.com (free account) and did not have any issues. But I only deleted 1 to 2 contacts.
     


    I am going to reach out to a couple of MS people. This sounds like a bug. I would have taken the same approach as you. In the meantime, can you tell me which version of Outlook you are using? Are you an Outlook.com user (free version) or a Microsoft 365 paid subscriber?

By the way, if you exported your contacts via Classic and plan to upload them to New Outlook, many of the custom fields will not be imported. 

For example, there is no custom field for Categories in the new Outlook. 
I suggest you export the contacts from both platforms so you can compare the differences.
