navigation bar moved to left
Dears,
The navigation bar has been moved to the left. How can I change it back to be on the bottom?

Add me to the group who came here in hopes of finding a solution for moving the navigation bar from the left. One of my pet peeves across platforms and apps is the tendency for navigation bars and even pop-up windows to trend to the left. It's awkward, inconvenient, impedes efficiency along with ease of movement. Guessing one of the higher ups at MS set in their ways was determined that this change be made.
- rrogerthatCopper ContributorThe "coming soon" icon was one of the most annoying feature as I hit it several times trying to close out Outlook. Magically just disappeared recently. Now we're getting a permanent left side nav bar lol
- Craig10Copper ContributorNo "Coming Soon" option appears on my Outlook.
- Do you have build 2211? It has an option that allows you to "snooze" the feature in File > Options > Advanced - Show apps in Outlook. If you have all updates installed and are in Current channel, you should have this setting in Options.
Please vote for and comment on this suggestion - hopefully they will add a permanent solution for people who want to remove it.

MBZ1_ Moving the navigation bar to the left side is not my choice but can live with it. What I have a serious issue with is that my shortcuts are no longer accessible, as is the full list of folders. Does anyone know how to get the folder list and shortcuts back? I am concerned about the temporary reprieve of the /Safe mode start in case that wipes my customizations. I have a LOT of custom views, conditional formats, rules, etc... All I want is to be able to get my shortcuts and full folder list back.

At the bottom of the list on the right side there ia an icon of a square with 4 squares in it
this is a menu here you can select folder list

Randy Redekopp There's a small icon that is 4 squares inside a larger one - "More Apps" your folder list and shortcuts are in there and you can pin them to the bar too.
- Randy RedekoppCopper ContributorI opened a support case with Microsoft this morning to get more info on the change and received a callback within 10 minutes. 🙂
This change is coming. Yes, you can do the /Safe mode thing to temporarily move the navigation bar back under the folder pane however future updates will most likely make this a permanent change. I did NOT test this as I wasn't sure if that would also permanently mess with my custom views, conditional formats, rules, and all the other tweaks I have in my profile.
I wasn't as concerned with the location of the navigation bar, only that I didn't initially see where to access my shortcuts or my full folder list. They are both accessible via the ... elipsis at the bottom of the bar.
You can right click on each of the various icons to pin them to the list, move them up or down, get to options, and various other choices depending on the icon choice.

I too would like to voice my objections to this change. Other users at our company are also not happy with the change. I have too much real estate on my screen & this limits it.

Hi everyone,
I found the answer to this unwanted change (in the future it will be forced to have it on the left ...). I've already posted it on the MS forum but I will post it also here what to do:
Guys, this feature drove me also crazy but I did what https://www.reddit.com/u/AKSNC30/ wrote BUT I had NOT the possibility to unclick the "Coming Soon" feature in the normal or safe Outlook.
What I did:
1) Closed MS Outlook
2) run with WIN+R (Windows button + R) and typed outlook.exe /safe (there must be a space between "exe" and "/safe"
( 3) if there is no feature for "Coming soon" - just close safe Outlook)
4) closed the "Safe Outlook"
5) reopened normal Outlook
and all was again in place (nav bar under e-mail folders). So I don't really know but Microsoft is doing some stuff without even the possibility to revert it back ... and we pay for this ...

1.Select File > Options.
Take me there
2.Select Advanced, and under Outlook panes, clear Show Apps in Outlook.
3.Close and then restart Outlook.
After doing so, you'll see the navigation bar positioned below the folder pane. - kaleembashaKSACopper ContributorExcellent share it works, but for some versions, just go to File -> Options->advance- uncheck "Show apps in outlook" ...........it will work

kaleembashaKSA this worked. So annoying.
- Mattymatt1900Copper ContributorThere is an easier way to do this: Goto File. Options. Advanced. Uncheck “show Apps in Outlook”. Restart Outlook
- _JR321Copper ContributorThis is a new feature from Microsoft and from what I read this morning it can't be moved or hidden.

I do not like the navigation bar being on the left. It messes with my keyboard, as I have a split keyboard & my copy button is rendered unusable. It also stops the function of being able to copy a line over & down in a previewed email attachment. This update is NOT helpful & not having any way to change it is ridiculous. That is NOT being user-friendly.
Please try this:
Open Outlook... Click 'View', select 'Folder Pane', change from 'Minimized' to 'Normal'
- terbanatorCopper ContributorDoing this only moves the layout of the folders, not the navigation pane.

You can go back to default settings by following below steps;
- Go to File and then click on options
- Go to Advanced tab
- under Outlook Panes untick option called Show Apps in Outlook
- Save settings and Restart your outlook.
- Paul__OCopper ContributorYes we know, this has been posted dozens of times. The problem is they'll be taking that option away from us.
