navigation bar moved to left
Dears, The navigation bar has been moved to the left. How can I change it back to be on the bottom?

Hi everyone,
I found the answer to this unwanted change (in the future it will be forced to have it on the left ...). I've already posted it on the MS forum but I will post it also here what to do:
Guys, this feature drove me also crazy but I did what u/AKSNC30 wrote BUT I had NOT the possibility to unclick the "Coming Soon" feature in the normal or safe Outlook.
What I did:
1) Closed MS Outlook
2) run with WIN+R (Windows button + R) and typed outlook.exe /safe (there must be a space between "exe" and "/safe"
( 3) if there is no feature for "Coming soon" - just close safe Outlook)
4) closed the "Safe Outlook"
5) reopened normal Outlook
and all was again in place (nav bar under e-mail folders). So I don't really know but Microsoft is doing some stuff without even the possibility to revert it back ... and we pay for this ...
The link to my comment is here on page 10 (Vik99977)
Cheers,
Vik
- kaleembashaKSAMay 16, 2023Copper ContributorExcellent share it works, but for some versions, just go to File -> Options->advance- uncheck "Show apps in outlook" ...........it will work

kaleembashaKSA this worked. So annoying.
- Mattymatt1900Mar 29, 2023Copper ContributorThere is an easier way to do this: Goto File. Options. Advanced. Uncheck “show Apps in Outlook”. Restart Outlook

- Gabriel_s74Jan 13, 2023Copper ContributorClick File -> Options -> Advanced -> Uncheck "Show Apps in Outlook -> Restart Outlook.
- DBliss1975Jan 13, 2023Copper ContributorGabriel_s74 , That option is not there anymore as you can see from my screen shot above.

This did return the navigation pane to bottom in my case! Thanks a lot! Vik99977

- CarlaMAllenDec 14, 2022Copper ContributorThat didn't help. Perhaps we are to the "forced on us" phase of implementation now. Gah.

I think it got buried in all the replies to this thread.
The resolution is to disable Apps in Outlook.
File>Options>AdvancedUncheck Show Apps and save.
Once you restart Outlook the bar will be gone and the classic version will be there as before.

In the Registry using Registry Edit find: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\ExperimentEcs\outlook\Overrides
Under Default, create the string value, Microsoft.Office.Outlook.Hub.HubBar, and then right click and modify and add False to the value, immediately after reopening Outlook the Navigation Bar was back where it belongs, at the bottom, under the folder list.

All I did was turn "on" the "Try it Now" next to Coming Soon in normal view, closed out look, re opened it and turned "Try it Now" off, closed outlook again and reopened outlook and the bar was back at the bottom. I did not have to run outlook in safe mode Vik99977

This worked for me too. The icons are now back at the bottom instead of on the left. My "Try it Now" was apparently automatically turned on with the most recent update earlier this week.- MissCynthia52Oct 05, 2022Copper Contributor
Yes....it has not chamged back so far and are still at the nottom, I agree with another fella who left a comment that microsoft needs to be aware that not all updates are for everyone and should be able to be chamged back when an update doesnt suit your needs. So hopefully it doesnt change anytime soon.DeniseMcj

Just to reiterate what has been discussed before -- Microsoft has rolled out this change "permanently" to many users. When it is rolled out "permanently", the option to turn it off simply by flicking a switch is gone. There are some not-so-clear-how-long-this-will-work "workarounds", but eventually, it will be activated for all users, with NO easy user-switch option. So it is important to register your complaint now and ask that Microsoft make this to be a user-set, optional setting.
