Issues New Outlook POP / Mac
New Outlook limits features to Microsoft Exchange/Outlook.com/Hotmail.com email accounts which is bad for my long time business POP account.
Since converting I discovered the below limited Support for POP. Can't use:
-Rules
-Pins
-Categorize
The Flags feature — I only see flagged email older than 2 weeks). I have tried manually using "isflagged:true" and the default Flagged Saved Search.
I need to mark important emails in some way. Since the above are not working does anyone have other suggestions?
Hi Lucy,
New Outlook has limited POP support, so features like rules, categories, and pins will not work. A practical workaround is to use folders to separate important emails, for example moving them into a folder named “Action” or “To Do.” This is not as convenient as flags, but it still allows quick access. For any business use, however, it is strongly advised to move to Microsoft 365 with an Exchange Online account. This provides full functionality with rules, flags, categories, and reliable syncing.
The reality is, Microsoft wont be adding good features for accounts like this.. Sorry it's probably not what you want to hear.

I know... I'm fighting a losing battle. But your suggestion is Great!!
A shorter version of a long story... I do have a MS business/Sharepoint Accounts and had my business domain linked to it.
Two issues began:
- When one particular client sent a SharePoint link, it gave me issues as it wanted to sign into my MS account. I gave them another address to use as a workaround.
- Next, the conversion to New Outlook — when I tried to add my Pop email account it defaulted to an MS version and not the real IP settings. Thus nothing came to me.
So, I removed my domain/email from Business/SharePoint account:
- I’ve asked that one particular client to resend verification/acceptance link email
- And was able to add the POP accounts with proper setting and get my mail
But yes, I need to change things so I can join the modern new world.
Appreciated.
