Unlicensed OneDrive User Accounts - MS licensing changes?
I recently reviewed this article on changes to unlicensed OneDrives (departed users): Manage unlicensed OneDrive user accounts
We currently have the user's OneDrive retention for deleted users set to 730 days. This allows for plenty of time to restore/recover/review data on a departed user's OneDrive. Looking at the Microsoft article, this now means that we would be charged for data retention over 93 days, since the OneDrive will be archived. We don't have Microsoft 365 Archive enabled, but if seems if we want to retain deleted OneDrives past 93 days, we need to do this. Has anyone done this? I don't want this to become prohibitively expensive for us. I assume that if we don't subscribe to MS Archive, the retention period is ignored and the OneDrives are deleted anyway?
Comments welcome.

Unfortunally, you have to enable billing for this to keep it past 93 days.

If you don't have Archive billing enabled, drives will be moved to recycle bin/deleted after 93 days. Should you need to keep them for longer, you must enable billing.
