Dear community, I have a one drive account with a extensive folder structure. Today I noticed that the folderstructure is intact (on my laptop and online) but the files are mostly gone for 90%, here...

I am experiencing the exact same issue.

One of my folders and all its subfolders are still intact, but ALL files inside have completely disappeared.

Important points:

I did NOT delete any files
No deletion activity in logs
Nothing in Recycle Bin
Restore OneDrive does not recover anything
Personal Vault was never used

I have been using OneDrive since 2017 without any issues, and all my other data remains intact. This problem is isolated to one folder.

My storage is still partially used, which makes me believe the data may still exist but is not visible due to a possible indexing or metadata issue.

I have already contacted support multiple times, but I am only receiving repeated standard troubleshooting steps without any real investigation.

This is very concerning for data integrity 😪

I fully understand your concern about data integrity — this is very worrying. The fact that storage is still used but files are invisible is a key clue.

Since standard restore and recycle bin checks didn't help, I recommend you ask Microsoft support specifically for an engineering lead to repair the file index from server-side backups. Local data recovery software on your PC may also recover traces of the missing files.

You are not alone with this issue. I hope a real solution comes soon.
