Onedrive sooo annoying but great a same time
OneDrive is behaving as two-way sync, so a file inside the OneDrive folder is one synchronized item, not an independent PC copy plus a cloud copy. Deleting it online propagates the deletion to the PC, and deleting it locally propagates to the cloud. To keep photos only on the PC, restore needed items from the OneDrive recycle bin, then mark their folder “Always keep on this device” and wait for every file to download. Pause OneDrive, move the folder outside the OneDrive directory, confirm the files open, then resume syncing. For Desktop, Documents, or Pictures backup, open OneDrive Settings > Sync and backup > Manage backup, stop the relevant backup, and choose “Keep the files only on my PC” when offered. Do not use “Choose folders” as a safety copy; it only controls what appears locally. Keep your separate backup until the move and file counts are verified.
