One Drive Saving to Portable Hard drive

I have been having issues with One Drive saving and backing-up. It started with trying to access files, when I had lost internet for a week Things I had done just hours before my internet dropped I couldn't access. When I click always keep on this PC it would save everything not just the files the files I selected.  I tried saving them directly on my computer that didn't work. I did a test run to see if I could move my files on a thumb drive, still had to have internet to access them.

I would go into settings and deselect syncing on the documents, pictures, desktop etc. That did not work it still synced everything.

I did a factory reset on my computer and delinked one drive and even deleted OneDrive. Now, here is where my current issue is. I got a PHD (Portable Hard Drive) and went to the OneDrive website downloaded certain files to the PHD. Well now a folder that says OneDrive keeps getting saved with other folders (desktop, Pictures, documents) I can't change any settings on it because it's acting like a normal file and not a one drive file.

However I can't save anything on my computer unless my PHD is connected. OneDrive isn't saved on my PHD. I don't know why it keeps creating this file folder.

I don't have OneDrive saved on my computer

In the past, I have tried to install one drive back on my desktop, but it kept syncing It wouldn't let me pause it and change the settings, I read that it had to finish syncing before I could modify the settings. I have over 400GB on my one drive, and not very much space on my computer. (It would sync and then state that I don't have enough space on my hard drive and just be stuck like that.)

How can I remove OneDrive from my PHD? How can I go back to start saving on desktop?

D:/ is unavailable. If this location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted.

This is what it tells me when I try to saved anything and this isn't just documents, its also any video games I install as well. Nothing can go on my desktop.

I am becoming very frustrated. Because either I sync one drive and my entire HDD is full from the the OneDrive syncing Or I can't access any of my files unless I am connected to the internet (I live in an area where internet is a hit and miss and I can't use my cellphone data because everything is prepaid) , OR I can't do anything on my computer unless I have my PHD connected and running (The PHD is for the whole family).

Is there a solution to this?

    Hi mrssarahwong,

Follow these steps to address your concerns:

    1. Remove OneDrive from PHD: If you notice a OneDrive folder on your PHD, delete it like any other folder after ensuring your essential files are backed up elsewhere.

    2. Save Files to Desktop: To save files directly to your desktop, choose the desktop as the save location. If issues persist, contact Microsoft Support or a local IT professional for assistance.

    3. D:/ is Unavailable: This error may stem from a disconnected drive or drive letter changes. Ensure proper connection or address drive letter changes and check for drive errors.

    4. OneDrive Syncing Issues: Customize which folders sync by right-clicking the OneDrive icon, selecting "Settings," navigating to the "Account" tab, and clicking "Choose folders." Pause syncing temporarily by right-clicking the icon and selecting "Pause syncing".

Note that unlinking or uninstalling OneDrive won't lead to file loss, but it halts cloud syncing. Access files through OneDrive.com.
