One Drive Keeps Coming Back
So I recently updated to a new laptop. I completely resent that MS now defaults to everything going to OneDrive. I should be given a choice. I went through the laborious process of unsyncing, unlinking, and uninstalling OneDrive. It worked for the most part - except the Pictures Folder that was still pointing to a now unlinked Pictures folder. I managed to create my own Pictues folder and pin it.
Fast forward to a couple of days ago. I wake up to my computer having been restarted due to an update. And lo - OneDrive is back and syncing again. I took a picture with my webcam and it automatically saved to OneDrive. I went in and unlinked the account again and I cannot understand why MS is so adamant that everything point to OneDrive. I should be allowed to back up what I wish to back up.

The best action you can take is to avoid using OneDrive. Microsoft doesn't understand basic cloud technology. Use Google Drive, Dropbox, or Sync.com. Microsoft employs sales and marketing people tasked with pushing Co-Pilot on you. Co-pilot is not MS tech because MS lacks engineers capable of developing software technology. Google Drive, Dropbox, or Sync.com, on the other hand, actually employs skilled engineers. Furthermore, Co-Pilot, which is half-baked, will eventually replace 365 Apps. I will be migrating to Google Workspace soon, which is a far superior SaaS solution along with Gemini.

Hi ,
Delete the keys below
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
OneDrive="C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe" /background
Do the same at,
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

Uninstall OneDrive Completely
Open PowerShell as Admin:
# 64-bit Windows %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall # 32-bit Windows %SystemRoot%\System32\OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstallAfter this, OneDrive should not reinstall unless you manually run setup.
My answers are voluntary and without guarantee!
Hope this will help you.

Thank you so much. I will give this a go. My hatred of OneDrive is deep and everlasting. The worst IT experience of my life. OneDrive, I hope you're reading this.
