Introducing OneDrive Files On-Demand and other features making it easy to access files
As people create and collaborate on more files, take more photos and work across multiple devices, it’s increasingly important to access your important content, both from your work and personal life—all in one place. You shouldn’t have to worry about whether there is enough storage on your device or if you can access your files on an airplane.
Today, we are excited to share a set of new features that will allow you to see and access all your files on Windows 10, be more productive offline on your mobile devices and quickly share files on iOS.
Read about it on the Office blog.
- Jason DennessBrass ContributorIs this due the end of this year?
Something like files on-demand for Mac users would be very nice! But at is delivered by a Windows update, I don`t expect something on the Mac very soon.

This feature would be greatly appreciated in RDS enviroments!
Please make it available not only to Windows 10 users but also for Windows 7 and RDS environments with Windows Server 2008 R2 and higher!

to go along with the on-demand sync, is there any update on some of the old limitations of sharepoint document libraries (like list view threshold)?
we ended up having to sign up for a 40k /year box account to migrate our file server to cloud storage. if we could ever one-off migrate the workload back to sharepoint with an intelligent sync client backing it, we would come back in a heartbeat.

We're always looking at how we can imporve the SharePoint Online environment to provide expereicnes that meet with how customers want to use the service. This appleis to how we thing about both limits and boundaries. We will have more to annoucne about how we are enabling managing larger lists from a view perspective, and this applies to views in document libraries, too. The 5k limit has been met with limiting outcomes, especially if you've approached it from a metadata management perspective - which can help if you've not tried this - and found that it is not enough to help performance or return views of lists as you wish.
For today, I'll direct you to turn on metadata-based navigation, and configure the most important columns as either key filters or hierarchies. That has the effect of making it really easy to create selective queries over large lists, and has built in fallback behavior for times when the user accidently selects too large a data set. The basics for setting that up can be found here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/configure-metadata-navigation-for-a-list-or-library-HA101820113.aspx . We, too, have extensive documentation on designing large lists here - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262813.aspx. You should start with that and apply the recommendations to the customers scenario - that even with large view limits/threshold will help end users more easily navigate and find what they are looking for.
And soon, you'll hear more from us on how we're addressing this.
Thanks,
Mark

Will Files On-Demand be available on Windows 7?
- Richard-ArtesCopper ContributorIt's always nice when Microsoft take away a popular feature, then add it back in again. And announce it as the most requested feature for Windows 10. Well done ms!!!

release this feature for all supported versions of Windows 10.
- Neil McCaffertyBrass ContributorGotta love this! I'm assuming the answer is 'yes' but can I explicitly ask if there will be support for multiple O365 accounts and for files as part of Channels within Teams?
