Can I Use OneDrive to Share PowerPoint Files With a Broad Audience

I am a recently retired professor. Several years ago, I wrote an introductory Statistics textbook called Clear-Sighted Statistics. This work is an OER (Open Educational Resource). It is available on the CUNY Commons and the U of South Florida OER website. This work has 19 chapters. Each chapter has Excel files. To date, this work has over 40,000 downloads.

Unfortunately, I am not able to upload my PowerPoint lecture files to the two OER websites mentioned above. These files are such too large.

My Questions:

1) Is it possible for me to use OneDrive to share this OER's 19 PowerPoint files with a large audience when I do not know who I am sharing with? I have 1TB of storage space that I get with the Microsoft 365 subscription that I buy. (As a retiree, my university no longer gives me a subscription.)

2) My work has a Creative Commons license. I want people to download my PowerPoints. I allow people to share derivatives of my work for non-commercial purposes only as long as they give me attribution. But I do not want anyone to change the files that exist on OneDrive, nor do I want them to add any files on my OneDrive site. How do I do this?

Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions.

  • Yes, you can, actually that is the core of OneDrive functionality, you can add a folder on your OneDrive and add as many files as you want and share it with anyone, either by entering their email or just create a public link that you can share it with any one anonymously.
