Teams Shared Document information getting jumbled

Hello, this is my first position where we have had to use Teams, and as a department we regularly use shared documents for the entire department to work. Every monday, we create the weeks work report, and save it in a new tab using the same document over and over. (this way every week we have a running total of the work done the previous week and so on) However we have been noticing, and this does not happen all the time, that some information I know is listed under (for example) customer A ... ends up showing up under Customer B or C. And I cannot figure out how or why this would be happening. (it goes into the document on Monday all good and dandy....but by later in the week some of the information is not where it is supposed to be. ) There are only 3 of us in the department, and each say they are not adding columns or adding lines, or affecting it in that sort of manner. We all should only be adding text notes to our customer lines, nothing more.

We all use the View > New View option, as we were taught by another co worker, in hopes that what we as individuals are doing for our daily work does not affect others reports as they are working in it at the same time. This is what we were taught to do so we could filter, sort, and manipulate the data so we could do our own work, and it wasn't supposed to affect what the others saw and would be all proper when all is said and done for the end day. (when we cleared our filters)

However, never using Teams shared files before this position, I am not 100% certain that how we are using it is the proper way.

So why would our data be moving up or down a few lines over the course of the week?

Please, any advise or information to stop this from happening is very much appreciated. Sometimes I have to recreate the master data, and add in all the daily notes, later in the week .... and that is so very time consuming and should not be necessary.

  • KristineF327 If you use the option to open that library in SharePoint you can right click and choose Version History for the file. look through the versions to see who made the changes that cause an issue.

do you mean see who it was last modified by? if yes, that won't work because all three members of the team are working in the shared document at the same time. so last modified by will only show the last person to open the file. if you mean something else, I am not sure what to look at. I did highlight the specific report, and clicked Open in Sharepoint, however all it did was open the Teams information the same way I see it in the Team app. 😞
