Teams Connectivity Issues to External Users

I am having a lot of issues with Teams and external contacts. I am able to send messages out to an external contacts and establish a chat session. After a period of inactivity this seems to time out and the external people are not able to send new messages. External people are also not able to send messages to establish conversations.

I have enabled external connections and I am not restricting any domains.

This seems to be very broken.

    To ask a few questions

    - Is this persistent through the desktop, web client and mobile?
    - Is it persistent outside of the corporate network (I.e. users at home?)
    - Can you workaround this by logging out and back in to the client?
    - Does it happen for multiple users/the whole organisation, or specific users?
    - Is it specific external users on a specific domain? Or is it random?

It sounds like an issue with the platform, or a bug. I would raise a ticket to Microsoft, but it would be great to hear your feedback on the questions above

    Best, Chris

I have not tried it through anything other than the desktop client.

I have tested it with users on multiple networks and it is location agnostic.

If the user sends a message to the external contact it makes a connection most of the time and will reestablish a connection until it goes idle again.

It is all users and I have even gone so far as to create an entirely different org an a new unrelated account to validate that it is not an org specific issue.

It really feels like a bug in the application or server.
