SMS in Teams - Australia

Hello

Does anyone know if MS Teams in Australia can receive and send SMS'?

Telstra say you can't even get a mobile number for teams, Hello Teams are saying you can but you can't SMS but when you google Teams has SMS capability so super confused.

  • anitav-daq the above article is specifically about Teams (Free) which is for personal users and not Teams for Business. A direct SMS integration is not currently available for Teams for Business as far as I'm aware. You can definitely get a mobile number for Teams (this is dependent on the provider but absolutely possible), however, that number cannot receive SMS. There are some third party integrations that can receive and send SMS through their Teams App, eg TouchSMS https://www.touchsms.com.au/sms-integrations/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/ but this is technically through an external app and not directly in Teams (the app just happens to be accessible in Teams). Take care with connecting a number you want to use for calls though. The setup can be pretty convoluted.

I hope since the free personal edition of Teams supports SMS that it is on the way for business, but no idea when that might be!

Hello anitay-daq, If you're scheduling meetings across different time zones on your Android tablet, here are steps you can follow: 1. **Set the Time Zone:** - Ensure that your tablet's time zone is set correctly to your current location. 2. **Use a World Clock App:** - Consider using a world clock app on your Android tablet. This can help you easily view the current time in multiple locations. 3. **Adjust Calendar Event Time:** - When scheduling a meeting in your calendar app, be mindful of the time zone setting. Most calendar apps allow you to set the time zone for each event. Set the event time in the time zone of the location where the meeting will take place (e.g., Seoul). 4. **Check for Time Zone Conversion:** - Some calendar apps automatically convert event times based on the time zone settings. Double-check that your calendar app is set to automatically adjust for time zone changes. 5. **Add Time Zone Information:** - In the event details, you can add the time zone information explicitly. Some calendar apps allow you to specify the time zone for each event. 6. **Use Online Meeting Platforms:** - If you're using an online meeting platform, such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom, these platforms often handle time zone conversions automatically. Still, it's crucial to set the correct time zone for your profile. 7. **Test with a Dummy Event:** - Create a test event with different time zones to ensure that your calendar app is handling time zone conversions correctly. Remember that the steps might vary slightly based on the specific calendar app you are using on your Android tablet. If you encounter any difficulties please let me know. We're here to assist.

As an SMS participant, they can send and receive messages from a chat. Currently, rich media messages are not supported. Participants who are not active in any group for 30 days will be automatically removed due to inactivity. After they are automatically removed, they must be added back to the chat via invitation.

Thanks for the response, does this require a plan? Are you supposed to connect your existing mobile for this to work?
