SMS in Teams - Australia
- Jan 30, 2024
anitav-daq the above article is specifically about Teams (Free) which is for personal users and not Teams for Business. A direct SMS integration is not currently available for Teams for Business as far as I'm aware. You can definitely get a mobile number for Teams (this is dependent on the provider but absolutely possible), however, that number cannot receive SMS. There are some third party integrations that can receive and send SMS through their Teams App, eg TouchSMS https://www.touchsms.com.au/sms-integrations/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/ but this is technically through an external app and not directly in Teams (the app just happens to be accessible in Teams). Take care with connecting a number you want to use for calls though. The setup can be pretty convoluted.
I hope since the free personal edition of Teams supports SMS that it is on the way for business, but no idea when that might be!
