Problem with Microphone after Mac Update to 15.0.1

Hello,

I am using the following:

- M1 Mac Book Pro

- MacOS 15.0.1

- Speaker device: FiiO K5 Pro

- Microphone: Shure SM7B / Focusrite 2i2

Since updating the MacOS version I have a very strange effect:

- Shortly after joining a call everything works fine, after some seconds my Microphone stops working / peers do not hear me anymore

- I can resolve this by opening the microphone settings tab. It has to stay open during the whole call.

- The test call always works fine, I can hear the robot and my recording. I guess because the call is too short for the problem to appear.

What I tried:

- Unsetting/resetting the "microphone" permission in MacOS

- Reinstalling teams multiple times

- Updated the Focusrite Drivers

Do you have any ideas how to fix the issue?

    Hi Stefan,

I have the very same problem in a similar configuration:
MacBook Pro M3; Rhode Mic with Focusrite 2i2.

The problem also occurs with other external microphones, e.g. LOGI PRIO Webcam or Meeting OWL.

Thus it seems not to be a mic drive issue

The Problem was also present before my update to MacOS from 14.x to 15.0.1

    • DIRECTLY after joining a call peers do not hear me anymore or they observe a robot like voice
    • I can resolve this sometimes by changing the sample frequency, sometimes not.
    • The test call always works fine, I can hear the robot and my recording.

Driver updaes, Teams cache reset, teams reinstallation do not work!😬

I will try your workaround next meeting.

P.S: you mean the microphone settings tab of the teams app?

Yes, I mean the Microphone Settings tab in teams. Problem with that is, that you can't see chat messages and you have to leave the settings for that - then peers do not hear you anymore.

I also only have this problem with Teams so far - slack for example works fine. Thanks for your feedback that its probably not the microphone/hardware or drivers
