Prevent users from deleting files within a channel

Hi All,

I have an issue whereby i am sharing some cloud storage within the Files part of a channel.

What i have found though is that all users and guests can delete this cloud storage link and i cant find anywhere to change the permissions or settings to control what users can edit/read for the files in a channel .

See picture (this is from a guest account).  i have changed the permission in sharepoint so that non of the files within the link are editable or deleteable by assigning read only permissions (see other pic).  Is there a way to change the read/write permission for the 'files' section in the channels as it would be frustrating if one user deleted this and then an owner would have to re-link it.

Is there a way to change these permissions anywhere?

    Hi d3ell ,

Open the SharePoint Site, navigate to the "Documents" library and change the permissions on the whole document library for the site members to Read only. All Channel files for your Team are stored in this document library in a folder that equals the name of the channel.

The way you have done this, by editing the permissions in SharePoint is how I have been doing this.  Seems to work pretty well.  Unless I have misread your post, this has achieved what you needed and prevent those users from deleting?

Or maybe I miss read too. In which case you can click open in SharePoint in your files tab. And go up a level and edit the permissions on the folder. Break inheritance and change the members group to read only that should lock the files in a channel down.

Na they are referring to cloud storage links that look like folders and restricting those. This isn’t possible. The only thing you can restrict when it comes to cloud storage option is turning it on or off for everyone.

Could a tab be an alternative solution? I think tabs can be restricted to owners only.
