Prevent users from deleting files within a channel

The way you have done this, by editing the permissions in SharePoint is how I have been doing this. Seems to work pretty well. Unless I have misread your post, this has achieved what you needed and prevent those users from deleting?
- Or maybe I miss read too. In which case you can click open in SharePoint in your files tab. And go up a level and edit the permissions on the folder. Break inheritance and change the members group to read only that should lock the files in a channel down.
- Na they are referring to cloud storage links that look like folders and restricting those. This isn’t possible. The only thing you can restrict when it comes to cloud storage option is turning it on or off for everyone.
Could a tab be an alternative solution? I think tabs can be restricted to owners only.- Well that’s how I read it. Couldn’t really see the screenshot on my phone to tell. But it looks like just a url link. Anyway OP please confirm 😉
