Office 365 A1 - Changes to Teams meeting recordings
Microsoft have recently changed what happens to Teams recording for A1 license holders, such that it will no longer automatically upload to Stream. My question is based on a mixed license environment where there are A3 and A1 license holders. If a meeting is created by an A3 license holder, but recording is started and finished by an A1 user, Teams says the meeting has been recorded by the A3 user, but Stream shows the video was uploaded by the A1 user. So after August 20th, what will happen in this scenario? Does the meeting organiser license apply to the automatic upload rights or is it the license belonging to the person who hit the record button that is the deciding factor?

The good news is that the meeting arranger wins! (Allegedly) Here is the response from Microsoft support:

I understand you want to know who will be the deciding factor of the automatic uploading of the video in streams where there is a mixed license environment after August 15th.
In a scenario where you have a mixed license environment, say a meeting was created by an A3 user and recorded was started by A1 user, the organizer of the meeting takes precedence and not the recorder. That means the recorded automatically uploads because the meeting was created by an A3 user.
If it is a user with the A1 license that organizes the meeting, the video will not be uploaded.

My only remaining issue is when this applies from. The support response, and the linked document say August 15th but the notification email that alerted me to the change says August 20th so probably safer to assume August 15th but I have asked for clarification.
- HermineTurnerBrass ContributorWhere is chat history? Some recordings within the 21 day windows are no longer appearing in my class chats.

HermineTurner- one of my instructors reported the same issue that the recording is not showing for Thursday and Friday 9-10 and 9-11. They are currently an A1 licensed user.

yorkits I would be keen to know what you find out about this. I have been pressing my Uni really hard to get Stream switched on.. They are about to make it available to everyone next week, and then this change?! What a nightmare! It is totally killing the workflow we have been looking for (we are on A1+ licence). It is back to doing what we do with other products. I am super mad about it!

That is a tricky question, and I'd probably recommend opening a support ticket with Microsoft for additional guidance on this.

PeterRising Thanks Peter. I thought Microsoft might respond on here for the benefit of everyone, but I'll take you advice and raise a ticket.
