Notify when available feature in NEW Teams app
11/28 update: please upvote this issue here in the feedback portal: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/bd4374ec-88ff-ed11-a81c-000d3ae5b6f4
The "Notify when available" feature doesn't appear to be available yet in the NEW Teams application when the new app is supposed to have full feature parity at this point. It's a useful feature that I (and I know others) use often. Is this feature going to be developed/released for the NEW Teams or is this not going to be available?

- jadermike20Brass ContributorI'm counting the days until it's finally gone and there's no way to use the old Teams anymore. Thank you Microsoft for not bringing back this horrible stalking tool.
I think everyone who wants it back should take a deep breath and try to understand that the 90s are over. I think if you have to stalk your coworkers, you are part of the problem of modern work avoidance and definitely not part of the solution to a modern workplace.
Hopefully it really won't come back or if it does only as weak as read receipts for emails in Outlook.- HScheelIron ContributorI do not agree with you at all. This has nothing to do with stalking. I do not know which world you're coming from but everywhere in many SoMe/Collaboration tools it is possible to see online status so what is different here? Actually it makes the collaboration even better to know when people are online and available.
Are you one of them not willing to collaborate then you can disable the feature and live on your own planet.
Happy Easter.- jadermike20Brass Contributorthis is a terrible stalking tool. as long as you work in a small company it can be helpful under certain circumstances, but if you are contacted or called directly by 40 different people as soon as you have the status available, the fun simply stops.
If I would get a notification as soon as someone wants to monitor my status and I can prevent that, I'm in.
In the last iteration it wasn't like that and therefore terrible. I am convinced that good modern collaboration also requires good communication. Nobody dies if you simply write a message to the person you want to get in touch with saying "please contact me about topic xy as soon as you have time" - it can be that simple and collaboration at eye level is the result.
most people here just seem to want to monitor whether someone is working or not, which is a huge problem and stalking and also a very sensitive legal issue in terms of employee monitoring.

jadermike20I think you should take off the tin foil hat.
- jadermike20Brass ContributorI think you should follow the community rules and not get personal, maybe?

Agree!!!! This was such a useful tool especially when employees have flexible start times, it was an easy way to see when they actually got in and were available as opposed to randomly checking time card.

I for one am happy MS removed this feature, as it feels kind of stalkerish to me. Feels like the neighbor watching your door all day long to see at what time you come home. If you want to get in contact with someone using teams, just send them a chat and ask them to respond when they can. Feels a bit more comfortable that way

Jur_Tompot I completely disagree. My co-workers are working for the same organization that I work for, and communication is expected. PLEASE BRING BACK THE "NOTIFY WHEN AVAILABLE" FEATURE.

Stalking or not, this feature helps me to optimize my and co-workers time. I just switched back (again) to classic teams as I realized there are no notifies coming and I was waiting to catch up with colleague.
FYI: classic teams may be available in some cases till end of June 2024. You'll need to switch manually back. See: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-classic-client-end-of-availability
- AmyLucyCopper ContributorThat depends on your job role. I have to check start/ finish and lunch times of staff under flexible working hours so I am watching the door.
- Bruno_ZieglerCopper Contributoryes, why are only half-finished pieces of software ever rolled out?

This is the most important one for me too, please add back "Notify when available" option!

kellydcco and now MS are forcing the New Teams app after March 31st '24 so we won't even be able to switch back to classic. Wow.
- Chris CoplandCopper ContributorPlease add this feature back. As highlighted by several other posters this could be an optional setting (which could be in the Teams admin centre, to allow orgs to decide whether this should be available to users or not).

+1
- DerekSuppleCopper ContributorI support adding this useful feature and commenting for future alerts regarding updates
- AmyLucyCopper ContributorWhy would you take this helpful feature away. Ive been forced to upgrade to new Teams and am really missing this feature. Bring it back please!
