New Teams - Video freezing
What brand of PC / MB is it? Were there multiple folders under it like mine?
If you look at my first screenshot, there were two "A-Volute.*" folders.... one of them had it, one of them didn't.
I attached my file (for some reason you can attach Word docs but not txt files).... I'm guessing if there wasn't a blacklist file somewhere, everything listed in this would be broken to some degree.
It turns out I don't even have Sonic Studio set to start on my computer, so I'll probably end up disabling the service again since I'm not even using it.
Oh, and I have an ASUS X570-F Gaming mobo.

ilandsj I don't know man, looks like that's a pretty old MB (2015) and it's very possible Nahimic changed their software around a bunch since then. I have a B650E-F which is from 2022 or 2023 and still in the current lineup, that's what I'm going off of. Your system is obviously using Nahimic's software from the search, but it could be the same issue with different specifics for the fix (or if they don't have an exclusions file it could be impossible to fix without removing it), or a different issue entirely.
We got lucky that someone from a Dell forum had a solution for theirs and shared it here, and I was able to extrapolate that to other systems using the same basic Nahimic layout (which appears to be common to newer releases). But if the layout is completely different, I don't know.
They could have renamed their exclusions file since yours was made - you might have to do some kind of findstr search for something you would expect to find in it. I attached mine (as a docx because for some reason txt is not allowed), you can look through it for search strings to try if you want to pursue this.
You'd run it like:
findstr /i /s "firefox.exe" *
I would start in %programdata%, but if you get nothing you might have to expand to the entire C: drive.
Good luck.

Rob_ICP_AZ I have an ASUS ROG Maximus VIII but I can't find any blackapp file or a-volute folders. Nahimic doesn't even show up under any of my services. The only searches I was able to find are these:
- clalimabrNov 30, 2023Copper ContributorThis worked for me too
- RogueBeanNov 30, 2023Copper ContributorI'm using a Dell Inspiron but was able to find the BlackApps.dat file in C:\ProgramData\AWHeadset\DellInc.AlienwareSoundCenter\Modules\ScheduledModules\Configurator
I had an Alienware headset which prompted the Command Center to install, I'm assuming that's where these folders came from.
Adding ms-teams.exe & msedgewebview2.exe to the BlackApps.dat file and restarting Teams also worked for me. - Rob_ICP_AZNov 29, 2023Brass ContributorGood point. I don't presume to know why Nahimic did it the way they did it, or if the method is even from Nahimic and that's not just how Asus, Dell and others did their implementation.
Regardless, it's still something to be worked out between MS and the vendors. - John TwohigNov 29, 2023Iron Contributor
I'm not sure that is the best solution. Given the size of the exclusion list it would probably be better for Nahimic to use an include list that only includes products they certify to work with their service. It seems backwards to have users go in and exclude every program that doesn't work with the service.
Who knows how many other things Nahimic has broken and users have never been able to figure out what the problem is.
- Rob_ICP_AZNov 29, 2023Brass ContributorIf anyone from Microsoft is monitoring this thread, it looks like the long term solution is for Microsoft to work with the OEMs to have these exclusions added as standard in their Nahimic implementations.
- Rob_ICP_AZNov 29, 2023Brass ContributorI wasn't confident that the folder would always be .28054DF1F58B4, so I made my instructions conceptual rather than explicit - but now you're the 3rd Asus user to say they have that exact folder, so it looks like it's safe for Asus, at least until there's an update.
MSI users and anyone else can refer to my post near the bottom of page 7 for how to figure it out without an explicit folder reference. - ThealsterNov 29, 2023Brass Contributor
Your fix worked for me too - thank you - mine was installed from an Asus motherboard install.
For others so they don't need to go to the original post
The file is here (on my machine, yours may be slightly different):
C:\ProgramData\A-Volute\A-Volute.28054DF1F58B4\Modules\ScheduledModules\Configurator
The file is BlackApp.dat (edit this, you will need admin permissions though)
Add these to the end:
ms-teams.exe
msedgewebview2.exeThen restart
