New Teams - Video freezing

I have a support call open with them and have pointed the engineers to this thread to understand the problem further.

Edit: Forgot to add - they now have network captures, screen recordings and Teams logs when the issue occurs. Hopefully they can find the problem out quickly.

    I fixed it! I have an Alienware laptop, and I remembered another app that had complained about a DLL that gets inserted when hardware-accelerated apps run.

    This is the post with the solution:

    I edited BlackApps.dat to add 2 lines:
    ms-teams.exe
    msedgewebview2.exe

    Then I rebooted and was able to successfully do a test call, which I hadn't been able to do before.

      Thanks for finding a fix. I remember reading an article about multiple issues caused by Nahimic. It's hard to understand why any OEM would still use it, especially when looking at that black list. Imagine how many human hours were wasted trying to troubleshoot an issue in one of those apps...

        You can remove Nahimic, but don't do it if you have anything other than a basic 2-channel sound setup, or you'll lose the ability to balance your channels' levels and delay, use EQ, etc.

      Not quite what seems to have fixed it for me, but it did lead me to find a Windows service called 'NahimicService'. I stopped and disabled the service and can confirm that New Teams is working for me now in the small amount of testing I have done.

        Brilliant! I've just confirmed it. When the Nahimic Service is running, the video disappears when someone starts the screen sharing.
        Stop the Nahimic Service and restart the Teams - all work well.
        Start the service and restart Teams - the video disappears again.
