Meeting option: who can bypass lobby
Have you others tested these options on Teams Meeting:
Especially the option "People I invite (Turn off Allow forwarding in the meeting invite)".
My experience from that is:
On Teams the "forwarding" was removed:
But on the Outlook attendees were still able to forwarding the invite, and I noticed also person to whom the meeting was forwarded, appeared to my own calendar invite.
And also that person whom I was not invited was able to join to the test meeting.
Not the behavior I was expecting, or there is tiny misunderstood 🙂
The text in brackets should not be there for that option - the setting is nothing to do with preventing forwarding. It is a mistake. I would not expect to govern the forwarding of the meeting invite through a setting titled "who can bypass the lobby".
I am running M365 Apps for Enterprise on both my home PC and work laptop, but with different version numbers.
On my home PC I see the same text in brackets. Version: 16.0.14931.20660
On my work laptop I see no text in brackets. Version: 16.0.15601.20088
Seems to be version related, and that text should not be there.

But that is what that option does. But interesting to hear that future version brings changes to that. I do have as well version: 16.0.14931.20648.

Not for me, I'm able to forward the invite using the Teams client or Outlook even when I select that option. What that text in brackets is trying to say is that people who receive the meeting invite as a forward rather than direct from the organiser will not be able to by-pass the lobby. The use of wording is poor and makes it seem like it prevents forwarding of the invite - it doesn't, it simply prevents non-original recipients by-passing the lobby.
In my opinion it should just say "People I invite" (as I think that's clear enough), and forwarding should not be affected by ANY setting in this drop down. The ability to turn off forwarding is performed in the 'Meeting Response' options in a separate area, alongside Request Responses and Allow Proposing of New Times.
I think we can agree they've made a small mess out of it though 🙂
Thanks ChristianJBergstrom to pointing it, and yes that removed the "forward" option from Outlook as well. But then does it mean that the "Meeting Options" on Outlook are not working as expected? As the forwarding was still allowed on Outlook, but not in Teams.
And if we are super sharp, in my mind those settings are not even promising the same:
"Disable forwarding" does disabling only the forwarding the meeting invite to others. It doesn't promise to do anything else.
While Outlook or meeting options web site says: "People I invite" are able to join. Even in a brackets the disabling the forwarding is mentioned.
And then we are coming to the real problem. Poor end user might believe that this is a secure way to protecting the meeting from unwanted participants. But at least even the forwarding was disabled on the meeting invite, still others were able to join when the join link was sent further.
- No problem mate. It works the same if using the Outlook client and removing the check from the menu bar. It's the invite itself you cannot forward, the receiver still has the option to simply copy the meeting link. Yeah, it could cause confusion obviously but I feel it's more associated with adaption and user training as with many other scenarios.
