Lost access to Teams org after changing MSFT account username
I seem to have broken my own, private Teams Org (hagenlund.onmicrosoft.com) after temporarily changing my Microsoft Account username and back again, and trying to invite my alias into my Org as a separate user.
1. When I now try to access https://teams.microsoft.com/ using an Incognito browser tab, I get the message "You've been invited to Hagenlund". I then click Continue.
2. After that I see this message (addresses redacted):
[CurrentUsername]
Sign into invited account You are currently signed in as [CurrentUsername], however, [OldUsername] was invited. Do you want to switch to [OldUsername]?"
3. I then click "Switch accounts", but after logging on and accepting permissions, I see this error:
"Invitation redemption failed
An error has occurred. Please retry again shortly.
hagenlund Hi, sounds like a mess and I haven't heard that one before! First. Remove any alias in your personal Microsoft account so you're only using your primary address.
Then I suggest that you go https://portal.azure.com using InPrivate / Incognito and sign in with the account creating the free org. Take a look in Azure AD under Users how it looks and if possible remove the pending user invite.
If you by any chance would have to create a new Teams free org. you'll need to delete current one.
Sometimes you can use the old address but sometimes it doesn't work. Then you need to create a new personal account/address.

hagenlund Hi, sounds like a mess and I haven't heard that one before! First. Remove any alias in your personal Microsoft account so you're only using your primary address.

I've removed all my Microsoft account aliases, logged on to the Azure portal as CurrentUser@CustomOutlookDomain and deleted the external OldUsername@outlook.com user in there.
But when trying to log on to https://teams.microsoft.com/ as CurrentUser@CustomOutlookDomain, I still see the message "You are invited to Hagenlund". After I've clicked Continue I now see a different message, "Your invitation has been revoked".
So it seems that Teams is still confused or comingling my old alias\invite with my current username, the one that originally created the Org, and still I'm unable to access or delete the Org.
Could there be a way of Teams assigning usage rights to my own account through the Azure portal?
Or maybe there's a private version of the O365 Admin Portal that I would go to if this was a work issue?
- Hi! Forgot to mention. When the user is deleted, delete it from the recycle bin as well (in AAD). Then wait at least 24 hours because it takes 24 hours for it to be permanently deleted.
