Inappropriate gif option in teams?

When using teams, I sent a gif that came up when I searched for 'fast', but when it played I realized that it was inappropriate. I captured a screen shot below. I would like to report this gif and request that it be removed, but cannot figure out how to do that? Please advise.

  • Hi,

Microsoft does not manage these gifs, it is handled by an external service called Giphy. So reporting it to Microsoft won't help you. And changing policy to Strict will not stop this GIF, it will still be there.

Giphy uses the MPAA rating (Y, G, PG, PG-13, and R) and the GIF you sent is rated G. G = "GENERAL AUDIENCES" (Nothing that would offend parents for viewing by children.). Strict will not remove gifs rated G.

So instead you should go to Giphy.com and search for that gif and report it.

Dont know how you would report it but do you have the GIF settings to Strict? I always set them to strict as in moderate there is some questionable content. Set to Strict and try and find it again.

  • I don’t know if you can report gifs in Teams! It uses a third party source for these!
Although you can set restrictions to strict both in a messaging policy or per team basis in the Teams settings! Try set this to strict and find the gif again

adam deltinger & Andrew Hodges thanks for the advice.  Our organization is currently set to moderate. I updated to strict and it was still there about 1.5 hours after I changed the setting. I'll test again tomorrow, but suspect that image has made it through the strict filter.

  • 😂 sorry but I can’t help but laugh at that. I would have never noticed and I doubt anyone else has. But good find 😂
