I can't find the setting to block the sending of files in the Teams chat.

Congratulations!
Help, I can't find the setting to block the sending of files or img in the Teams chat. For external and guest users.

As far as I know this is done using Powershell. It is true?

  • VyacheslavLev23 There isn't a setting, neither guests or external users can ever send a file through Chat, take a look they don't get an option.

They can insert images, there's nothing you can do to stop that but the images are purely stored in the Teams datastore, they won't become part of your SharePoint.

  • Hi VyacheslavLev23,

To block the sending of files or images in Microsoft Teams chat for external and guest users, you'll need to adjust the guest access settings in your Microsoft Teams organization. Here's how you can do it:

    1. Open a web browser and sign in to your Microsoft Teams admin account at https://admin.teams.microsoft.com.

    2. In the left sidebar, click on "Org-wide settings" and then select "Guest access."

    3. Under the "Guest access" settings, you'll find the following options:
    - "Messaging" controls external access to channels and chats.
    - "Meetings" controls external access to Teams meetings.
    - "Calling" controls external access to calling features.

    4. Click on "Messaging" to access the guest messaging settings.

    5. In the "Guest messaging" section, you'll find various options related to guest user chat permissions.

    6. To block the sending of files or images for external and guest users, toggle off the switch next to "Allow guests to share files in chats."

    7. Additionally, you can also toggle off the switch next to "Allow guests to share images in chats" to block the sending of images specifically.

    8. Once you've made the desired changes, click on "Save" to apply the settings.

By following these steps, you can block external and guest users from sending files or images in Microsoft Teams chats.
