Forwarding Teams Meeting invite
I work at a major university and we are having a virtual faculty meeting this week. Here is the scenario and my question...
A faculty member created a meeting in teams and invited and administrative assistant as a required attendee but no one else. The administrative assistant then copied the text that is sent that includes the link to join the meeting, phone number to call in, conference id, etc and pasted into an email that she sent to all faculty and others who should attend the virtual meeting. I know that sending this way did not create a meeting invitation for the people who received the email since it was just pasted into the email and not an outlook or teams calendar invite.
My question: Will faculty be able to go to the email that was sent and click the "Join Microsoft Teams Meeting" hyperlink and join the meeting or will it prevent them from joining since they weren't invited by the meeting organizer?
I know my way around teams fairly proficiently, but I'm just not sure on this one as I've never had anyone try to organize a meeting in this way. Trying to prevent a big mess come meeting time on Friday. Thanks for any insight!
- They will be able to join.
The only thing that will stop them entering the meeting is if the lobby is on which you can turn off in the meeting options, or let them in when they join.
I would recommend testing it with a particular user or two prior to the meeting just to put your mind at ease and see it in action
Hope that answers your question
