When people are joining Teams meetings as anonymous users (not signed in) using a link and a browser they get to type in whatever name they like in the join meeting prompt. Hence James Bond, Pavarotti and 7 Bobby could be participating. That is built-in behavior of anonymous join. If that isn't the issue here I must direct you to the official Microsoft support.
For the record there are settings to control if anonymous join should be allowed, if they should be able to start a meeting and if anonymous users should be able to chat in meetings, meaning they have to be signed into Teams. If you don't allow federation it's an issue though as they will all join as anonymous users, that is if allowed.

- Feder365Mar 11, 2023Brass ContributorHello ChristianJBergstrom,
thanks for your reply. Yes, we are aware of the built-in behaviour of the anonymous join, but actually the issue is not related to what name users choose to write (James Bond, Pavarotti, Bobby etc.) during an anonymous join, but to what is displayed by Microsoft Teams on users' screens. Therefore, since there is still a mismatch between real identity/displayed name in a meeting chat, I asked my tenant admin to open a ticket with Microsoft Premiere support.
I will share any update about this issue.
Thanks again and best regards.- Sami_HamdiMay 02, 2023Copper Contributor
Hello Feder365 ,
I've had the same behavior in a few meetings and was wondering if you ever received an answer from Microsoft ?
If you did, what was the cause of this issue ?
Regards.- aliw489Oct 04, 2023Copper ContributorI've just encountered this as well - in the "people" view there are several people showing with my name and messages are showing as written by me when they're not.
