Displaying 2 organisations Chat in one Teams

 Hello,

We are running teams thought our organisation.  2 of my biggest customers are also now using teams.

If I make a new team and channel and add Customer 1 in as a guest,  they have to switch between their teams account in the top right of the application.

Is it possible to get it to show channels made from outside your own organisation on your main orginisation Team feed.

As now we miss a lot of chats, or come in late to a conversation  that's making teams a secondary tool when talking with other organisations.

  • You can utilize External Chat instead of guest chat if all you are doing is chatting between orgs. You cannot group chat that way however yet. one of these days Native Teams chat will launch where we will have a much fuller experience and I think group chat ability between tenants.

If you are utilizing channel conversations thou, you must switch tenants, and as Adam said, I use a 2nd browser tab open to my other tenant since you can be logged into both at the same time with no issues. If you have more than one or forget to open it I suggest Franz www.meetfranz.com which is a client that basically combines web sessions into one client and notification center that will auto start with the computer. It's nice, if you ever used Trillian way way back, it's the same concept in a way.

Anyway, Microsoft is looking into improving the experience for tenant switching so hopefully this will make this issue we have using multiple tenants better down the road, but for now those are your options :).
  • No, unfortunately this is how it works! They need to switch over in order to read messages and the notifications from other tenants is pretty flawed! Often you first discover it when you get a mail about a missed message!
I’d suggest using a browser session and stay logged in at the customer tenant teams alongside with your desktop client! That way you have both up and running simultaneously and get notifications

    Adam
