Can students use Class Notebook Collaboration space and communicate at the same time?

I'm using OneNote Class Notebook within Teams to teach online. I'd like my learners to use the Collaboration Space for small group work, but I don't know how they would be able to have a discussion while they are working together on a task in the Collaboration Space.

So far I only found one way: starting a meeting in a locked channel in Teams (only for members of the small group) and then directing them to work on the relevant page in the Collaboration space.

Is there an easier way to set up group work which includes a live audio call within the Collaboration space?
