Blocking All Direct Calls to Users' Phone Numbers, Except for the Auto Attendant
We recently migrated our phone service to Teams and it's been great so far. We ported our office number over to Teams and I have a caller ID policy that has all users' outgoing calls showing as the main office number (i.e. the number of the main office auto attendant). However, we're having an issue with users get a large number of unwanted calls to their direct phone numbers (the numbers were ordered through teams and unfortunately are recycled used numbers that receive a ton of junk calls).
I assigned phone numbers to all users that needed outbound calling, but no one needs to receive calls to their direct number - I have extensions set up on the main auto attendant and all legitimate calls should be routed through there. Is there a way to block all incoming calls to users' individual phone numbers or otherwise re-route them to the main office auto attendant? I have looked at call blocking rules in Power Shell (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/block-inbound-calls) but as far as I can tell, those rules are company-wide and would then also apply to the auto attendant which we want to be able to receive calls from all numbers. I also looked into call delegation and answering rules, but as far as I can tell there's no way differentiate between external calls vs those transferred by the auto attendant or another user.
Does anyone have ideas on how to accomplish this?
- Hi,
Can you check your Microsoft Teams Calling Policy if the Spam Filtering is enabled on the policy this will help in reducing the overall spam calls on the Microsoft provided numbers.
I don't see a way out to block all the incoming calls coming directly to the Microsoft Teams PSTN Enabled user.

Satish U- Jorge_GustavoCopper ContributorIndividual incoming call blocking should work, and according to current Microsoft documentation, this shouldn't be a problem. At least that's what the article "https://oit.colorado.edu/tutorial/microsoft-teams-block-calls" says, which provides a step-by-step guide on how the individual user can perform these settings themselves within from your own Microsoft Teams App.
- Jorge_GustavoCopper ContributorI believe that Microsoft should review its official documentation regarding "incoming call blocking", as it is a little confused when it comes to what should be done on a global level by the IT Administrator and what can be done by the end user. In any case, the documentation for this is available at "https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/block-inbound-calls".
