Scroll Bar on Likert Question

Hello,

My colleague and I have noticed a horizontal scroll bar appear on the Likert scale questions on MS Forms (see image).

This appears to be the standard for 'Mobile' versions of MS Forms but it seems to have been applied to the 'Computer' versions of the forms as well.

I have tested this on various monitor resolutions and with Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome but we cannot get the horizontal scroll bar to disappear, to show all of the radio buttons available on the Likert scale question at once.

Does anyone know if there is a setting available to turn these horizontal scroll bars off?

Thank you!

    Hi

Which chart you normally use to visualize survey result?

    TIA

Jord_245 Microsoft have resolved this for me. I logged a support ticket. Hopefully they saw it as a systemic issue and resolved it for everyone. :party_popper:

StephG4  Thank you for sharing the information. I've also observed that Microsoft has recently made some slight (but actually significant for us) changes to the appearance of Likert scale questions. I have a few Forms with Likert questions that I created some time ago, and I've noticed that they are now displayed without a horizontal scroll bar.

HiroHiro1105I spotted this late last week too, sounds like they have reversed this horizontal scrollbar, which is great news. 🙂 Thanks everyone!!

This is bad design and makes the likert scale unusable. Please change it back!

Microsoft - please fix this update, it breaks a core question format for many users.

This change means Forms is no longer fit for our purpose. It invalidates the whole point of a Likert scale question. It also has skewed all our data as we weren't advised about it and no respondents are choosing the 5th response because they can't see it. This has invalidated our data and a lot of our work. Is there a way we can escalate this to Microsoft?

Of course, right after I recommend our company move to MS Forms they go and break the design.

Hi, I guess the text is too wide. I'd ty to keep the words 'I find this feature' in the question, outside the Likert scale. Kind regards Hans

Hi Hans Le Roy, thank you so much for your reply. Sadly this doesn't seem to have worked either, I've cut the options wordings right down but the form has still 'stretched' the five options out - in the image below there are still two more options hidden to the right:

I am sure this is a very recent change as it used to show all the options at once without the scrollbar. If there isn't an instant fix, I wonder if there are any Microsoft support channels I could use to ask them about this?

Hi, I am facing the same problem. Microsoft seems to have changed the screen design recently.

I am considering the following solution. I hope it works.

        1) Minimize the length of the options like 1,2,3, and 4.
        2) Make an illustration that has full texts of the options.
I have made this example by capturing the screen of a Word file.
        3) Upload it just above the texts on Forms.
