Knowledge sources in Copilot Agents vary by user
I recently gave a demonstration on how to use Copilot Agents (the version you access by clicking 'Create Agent' from M365 Copilot). In my version, I can add local files or Sharepoint files as custom knowledge. When other users tried to follow along, they stated they can only add public websites.
I am struggling to understand why this is. I have looked for a list of available knowledge sources for Copilot Agents, but far as I can tell no such thing exists. Is this a licensing issues, a technical error, or a gradual rollout?

It would be a licensing issue. The 'free' version, M365 Copilot Chat. They'll need a M365 Copilot license to use internal work data as a knowledge source.
If you come across this in the future, the easy way to check is to see if they have the work/web toggle at the top of their Copilot chat.

Hi Rob,
No worries. Thanks for taking the time to reply :).

Sorry you are not getting answers. I think all the variety of copilots is super confusing. MSFT is trying to do the right thing with permissions and enterprise features but it is just patchwork. Little features popping up here and there from different teams.
