Copilot Employee Self-Service Agent

I’m looking for some clarity regarding the rollout of the https://adoption.microsoft.com/en-us/ai-agents/employee-self-service-agent/ and whether others are seeing it in their environments yet.

I’ve been following this closely and initially understood that a formal request was required to gain access. However, the Microsoft Learn documentation now provides specific, step-by-step instructions on how to enable and access it directly. Despite following those instructions to the letter, the agent is still not appearing within my tenant. I’ve verified my configurations against the guide, but the options simply aren't visible.

A few questions for the community:

  1. Has anyone else successfully enabled the agent using the self-service steps in the documentation?
  2. Is there or was there ever a manual "request-for-access" process that overrides the published steps?

I’d appreciate any insights or if anyone from the product team could clarify if the documentation is slightly ahead of the actual deployment.

  • I reached out to Microsoft and was able to get access to the agent through Microsoft Marketplace.

If you search for "Employee Self Service Agent", you can find the "Employee Self-Service HR Agent" (preview). I was also granted access to the parent agent, which is not discoverable through search. To be honest, I don't fully understand the reasoning behind this, especially since that agent is not marked as a preview and available in PPAC.

Another way to find and install both agents is through the Power Platform Admin Center by navigating to Manage → Dynamics 365 Apps, and then locating and installing the agent from there (see screenshot below). Once installed in the target environment, the agents appear under the "Install a managed agent" section, but they are also listed alongside other agents.

Nevertheless, after trying it out, I'm still a bit confused.

You cannot open the HR Agent in Copilot Studio and if you finally get it open, there are no options to use tools or configure connections in the agent's settings.

While reviewing the documentation, I came across the "Install ServiceNow HRSD extension pack" section. If I understand it correctly, I need to contact Microsoft and have them enable this capability for my tenant before I can use it.

So far, I have built a separate agent that uses tools and a ServiceNow connection, but it seems Microsoft has taken a much more advanced approach than my initial implementation.

Has anyone successfully deployed this agent with ServiceNow HRSD integration? I'd appreciate hearing about your experience and any lessons learned.

I am experiencing the same issue. Has this resolved for you?

Since posting this, I've been informed that the ESS Agent is only available to organizations with 2,000 Copilot Licences and that it is activated upon request if you meet that threshold. The documentation has also been updated to say that it will eventually be available to all customers https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/copilot/employee-self-service/overview
