What does this "Sign In" button log me into?
I noticed this "Sign In" button at the top right corner of outlook. What does it sign me into? As you can see from the Office Accounts/Accounts page, I'm already logged into my office account. I am also successfully logged into my only mailbox. So, what might it be?
- Darkira69Copper ContributorHello Guys,
as Microsoft still didn't fix this problem, did anyone find out a way to "bypass" this problem ? hiding the button with a GPO ? blocking a feature which also hide the button in the same way ?
I know MS is pushing so hard to move everyone on Exchange Online instead of On-Prem but come on ... as some of you already said : the users are going to click on it, to open ticket because they will think they are not connected... and i'm pretty sure that this is easy to fix in reality ... - ErwinMollerCopper Contributor
Did anybody find any info yet on this highly confusing button?
Where is Microsoft?
This is my (Dutch) Outlook 2016:
I cannot help thinking Microsoft is forcing all to their online services, and just wreck all on premises solutions.

Unfortunately not... The button is still there, but not for every user. We have not been able to find the reason for this and no response from Microsoft yet.
They doesn't seem to care that some companies can't simply switch to the cloud.Maybe someone else found a way to hide/remove the button in the meantime?
- SamuelFromAityAGCopper ContributorSame issue here. M365 2403. Have opened a MS case and let you know about the outcome.

I am also seeing this issue. We have tried everything from wiping the profile, reinstalling the programs, etc. This is happening to some users on one machine but not another. Any ideas?
- JohnForthBrass ContributorYou can set the GPO titled "Block signing into Office" under Microsoft Office 2016/MISC to "Org ID Only" to have Office sign in with their Domain Sync'd account.

Same issue here. Monthly Enterprise Channel - Version 2308 Build 16731.30126
I manage group policies for 5000 clients. We have On-Prem Exchange, so our users are logged in automatically.
If our 5000 users see this, they will think there is a problem and call our Service Desk. This button is completely unnecessary for On-Prem and I can't believe it passed QA.
There are enough ways to sign into your accounts already through File. And yes, I know I can disable the Account Settings menu through GPO to stop this button from doing anything, but sometimes we need to add special accounts or reconfigure user accounts, so this is not an option.
Why was this addition not mentioned in the 365 Release Notes? There are supposedly only bug fixes in the last patch.

Same for us... We manage less users but already had some requests because of this new "Sign in" button.
Our environment:
Citrix VDI, on-prem Exchange, users are logged in automatically, Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2308 Build 16.0.16731.20310) 64-bit
Would be great if we could hide this button somehow.

Tom_Fox_JDN Hi Please confirm would you facing outlook sensitivity icon greyed out issue after upgrading MEC 2308 ? My outlook sensitivity icon got greyed out after upgrading to MEC 2308 but sensibility labels alive in other m365 apps like word and excel
- Tom_Fox_JDNCopper Contributor
We don't use this Sensitivity feature, so I don't know if there is an issue. Please search for a separate thread if you have problems with this, it's not related to the new "Sign In" button.
- ProgentCTBrass ContributorI fear the concept of On-Prem is already tombstoned.
- Ronan_FahyBrass ContributorSame question here. On prem exchange. Already signed in, already have mailbox profile associated. Additional Sign In button has appeared with latest update. What does it do, and how to i kill it, so our users don't get confused.
- jrlee1151Copper ContributorHave the same question. Mine is a Windows 10 running in Citrix VDI. 365 Office Version 16.0.16827.20130
- ProgentCTBrass ContributorSorry, missed this. This is Windows and Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2309 Build 16.0.16827.20166) 64-bit
