What is the difference between Office 365 and Microsoft 365?

Hello everyone!

Just started to learn Microsoft cloud platform (most interest in Office 365 products), but on some Microsoft resources i found name "Microsoft 365", are this names means the same? Or there is difference between this two? Can't found any clear description.

  • Hi aero2466

There is a difference between Office 365 and Microsoft 365. Office 365 is a set of cloud based business applications like Exchange, Office Apps, SharePoint, OneDrive. It is a part of Microsoft 365. Microsoft 365 is Office 365 with Windows 10 (OS) and the Enterprise Mobility Suite (Suite of Security and Management apps).

Lots of information on this in articles online including

To add: not all Microsoft 365 include Windows 10. Microsoft 365 Basic, for example.

This is just even more confusing, I got a message on my Computer saying: Microsoft 365 is the new Office 365. I pay a yearly Subs of $129 or something for Office 365 with 5 licences but does anyone have any concrete idea of what that gives me now with MS 365? Is that price going to up without any additional benefit? I already have so many WIN Pro licences anyway.
Why can't they do what Apple does with a free macOS (that is STABLE, does not need daily updates) and has PAGES, NUMBERS, KEYNOTE and MAIL included for free?

I need Microsoft Office for my studies and projects. If anyone has suggestions on how to get a good deal or if there are any alternatives, I’d love to hear your recommendations.
  •  A lot of unis hook you up with free or cheap Microsoft Office. Also, Microsoft’s Office 365 is dope for some cloud storage and apps for a low monthly fee.

If you're looking for other options, I found a site with a variety of Microsoft products, and I ended up buying from them. They’ve got great deals, so definitely check it out.
